Demi Vollering greep zondag net naast een tweede eindzege in de Tour de France Femmes. De Nederlandse finishte op vier seconden van winnares Katarzyna Niewiadoma, al was er achteraf heel wat te doen over de tactiek van SD Worx-Protime.
De Nederlandse succesformatie toonde zich niet van haar beste kant in de Franse grote ronde. In de vijfde etappe knalde Vollering tegen het asfalt, maar Blanka Vas en Lorena Wiebes besloten niet te wachten. De tactische keuzes van SD Worx-Protime riepen alvast veel vragen op. Op sociale media werd de formatie dan ook niet gespaard.
SD Worx are the stupidest fucking team in cycling. They make the movistar trident look like a tactical masterclass. So convinced of their god given right to win every stage of every race. I want to see Vollering fucking stomp them with a team she deserves at the #TDFF next year.

Toch wel slordig, die verloren secondes in etappe 5, door Wiebes en/of Vas niet te laten wachten op Vollering.

Mixed Emotions. I have them now in spades. What a kick in the gut. Team SD Worx told her to get lost on stage 5, and now @demivollering loses by 4s. There is an arrogance from top management at SD that is palpable. Happy to see her leave SD, she deserves better. #TDFF2024
